
The special history of the county Spiegelberg is the main focus of the museum which is modern furnished in the year 1986 and which is situated in the rooms of the former district court in the water castle of Coppenbrügge which was built by the counts Spiegelberg around 1300.
The densely wooded mountain ranges of the Ith reach heights about 400 metres. The flora of the woods is amazing and very special. Therefore, you can discover nature reserves on the mountains, and the "Saubrink Oberberg” " on the Ith this the largest.
In the year 1303, the castle was mentioned for the first time. In the year 1512 a rebuilding of the old water castle to a modern fortress took place. The half-timbered house which was situated at the back of the inner ward was the seat of the district court of Coppenbrügge for many years. Today it is a museum.
