Bad Nenndorf

to Overview

Picture: Bad Nenndorf was founded in the year 1787 because Landgrave Wilhelm IX of Hessen-Kassel gave the impulse for the foundation, after the medical value of the sulphur springs had been recognised in the year 1772. The historical buildings in the spa gardens like the landgrave's house and the house Kassel as well as the "castle" are from this time. In the year 1807 Jérôme, the brother of Napoleon, found a way into Bad Nenndorf and introduced the mud bathing. In the year 1866 Bad Nenndorf became a Royal-Prussian medicinal bath. An impressive architectural building from this time is the big bath house from the year 1905/06, which is situated on the edge of the spa gardens.

Picture: The 35-ha-spa gardens with the pump room, the health resort theatre, the band shell and the promenade which goes over to the pedestrian precinct is today an indisputable centre of attraction of the young city.

The Landgrafen Therme and numerous hotels invite you to a wellness holiday in the health resort. Attractive all-inclusive arrangements are being offered by our tourism team.

Picture: Our tip: Since 2005 Bad Nenndorf has wonderful Nordic Walking distances. The German ski federation cachet stands for quality. We have numerous offers from a taster course for starters up to sportive Nordic walking courses.
